The 22 articles focus on a wide variety of topics related to both teacher education and education in general. Main challenges faced by professionals working in the field of education are discussed and presented from national and international perspectives. Learning in school, learning at work and the link between these two arenas are presented and debated by several researchers interested in equality of educational opportunities. In addition, challenges represented by culture, globalization, professionalism, evaluation, quality and democratisation of education are all a central concern in the discussions of several articles. 35 authors have contributed to this Festschrift altogether; with foreword, greeting, comment and articles on research from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine and the USA.
